Purists are pragmatic above all else. They are stern, serious, and responsible people who want to help to improve the lives of others. They are particularly concerned with social welfare, and doing things for the greater good.
Purists accomplish this using their judgment. They often use their ethics and moral compass to make solutions for real world problems, and thus spend a lot of time evaluating their morals to make sure they are on the right track.

Generally, a Type 1 personality will have a motivating vision for their desired life, which they will work very hard towards making it happen. They also have a strong and tenacious sense of duty, and can be relied upon to keep their word.
Purists are very prideful about their work, and will take extra time to make sure it is perfect. They also spend a considerable amount of time on optimizing their workflow, and use tools such as schedules or plans to be as efficient as possible.
This personality type is a ‘body-based’ personality, from the Enneagram structure. They form a triad with personality types Eight and Nine. These personalities have a core emotion of anger, and type Ones cope with this anger through establishing order and maintaining control.
The Purist uses this control to prevent themselves from being vulnerable to negative emotions like anger. They feel like the anger they experience is morally wrong, so whenever they experience it, they repress it. Ultimately, this can lead to self-loathing, regret, or resentment building up inside.
Type One personalities usually grow up in homes filled with chaos or uncertainty. Type Ones usually feel like it is their responsibility to maintain order, and keep the family unit together. As long as they are in control, the type One feels like everything is okay.

- Type Ones are first and foremost responsible. They strive to remain accountable for their actions, and do their due diligence to make sure their systems remain functional.
- A purist personality is also very down-to-earth, and strives to show their integrity in every decision. They are loyal, honest, and appreciate justice.
