The Empathetic Interpersonal Personality Type: Expressively Charitable, Pleasing to Others, Giving, and Protective.

Caregivers are full of empathy and are often found putting the needs of others above their own. They are able to quickly find the emotional gaps of other people, and help to support them through their troubles.

Type Twos find a great deal of pleasure in being the one you call when you have an issue. They are often the shoulder to cry on, or a person you call to cheer up with. They are very loyal, and will be there for you no matter what.

Type Twos are usually found to be open and popular people. They are often found in large groups, and can relate to people from different backgrounds or stages of life. They are very encouraging and supportive of others, which helps them to form strategic relationships.

Caregivers are very motivated by approval from others. Typically, they have an unconscious desire to be seen by others as selfless, and can assume that everyone does good things for their own benefit.

This leads to others perceiving the Two as someone who is superficial in their kindness. They can even be seen as exploitative, or enabling to those who need a different kind of care, by giving to others at the expense of themselves or another.

This personality falls into the ‘heart-based’ section of the Enneagram model. Along with types Three and Four, the type Two has the core emotion of sadness. This can be as a result of feeling unappreciated, or unloved for their true selves.

Generally, type Twos have grown up in emotional distress, as their emotional needs aren’t met at home. They learn through this experience to repress their own emotions, and to put others above themselves.
