The Mediator personality begins to shine through as early as childhood, when they take it upon themselves to make everyone get along. They work great in a team, and are often thought of as the glue that holds everything together. They are able to see multiple perspectives, but struggle to hold their own stance on an issue.
Mediator personalities are humble, and are happy to go with the flow. They will go out of their own way if it makes it easier for someone else, and are non-combative. They appreciate small gestures from other people.
Type Nines belong to the ‘body-based’ triad in the Enneagram model of personality types. Other members of this triad include Ones (who focus on self-control of their anger), and Eights (who express their anger and use it to control others). Nines focus on avoiding their anger, and strive for inner peace.
Nines are also resistant to feeling controlled, which can be expressed as passive-aggressiveness. They don’t like conflict, so they can never bring up issues in a straightforward manner.
Nines with a healthy mindset are able to help others to see points of view they may have previously not considered. However, unhealthy Nines can come across as apathetic, uncaring, and self-critical.
Growth for a Nine involves prioritizing themselves, and learning to ask for what they need directly, instead of waiting for someone else to offer them what they need.
