You must be the master of your emotions if you wish to live in peace, for he who can control himself becomes free.Leon Brown

Do you make new friends easily? Can you read a room without much effort, and do you comfort other people when they’re upset? If so, you might have high emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence may not be talked about as much as IQ, but it can have a big impact on your relationships and your professional life.

Emotional intelligence is not about introversion or extroversion - you can be a confident extrovert with poor emotional intelligence or an introvert who has a great understanding of emotions. Cognitive empathy (being able to understand how other people will react to situations) and affective or warm empathy (being able to sympathize with someone or actually feel what they are feeling) are both different aspects of emotional intelligence.

Our test measures a few different facets of your emotional intelligence, including how well you recognize what you feel, your control over your mood, your level of empathy, and your social skills. To learn more about how you feel and express emotion, it’s also a great idea to take a look at some of our other personality tests, such as the Enneagram or the 16 Personalities.
